La Plata West Water Authority sincerely apologizes to all our water consumers for the recent concerns about the water quality and slight earthy odor/taste. The situation stems from the combination of  higher temperatures, warmer water conditions in Lake Nighthorse, and increased pumping and treatment procedures to meet the elevated demand across the entire system.

We want to assure you that your water is safe to drink. Addressing this issue is a top priority, and we are actively conducting flushing procedures to help resolve it.
